COLUMBIA, Md. - The Knights of CCBC Essex claimed the 2014 NJCAA Region XX Championship on Sunday. The Region's top-seeded team defeated Anne Arundel in the finals, 12-4 to earn an automatic bid into the 2014 NJCAA National Championships.
Essex's Marcus Dietz was named Offensive Player of the Tournament and Ben Richards earned Defensive Player of the Tournament for the champions. They were joined on the All-Tournament team by teammates Tajee Mobley, Cameron Stone, Gerarde Clothier and Joel Linkus.
The Knights (13-2) then received the No. 3 seed in the national tournament and will host No. 6 Brookdale (6-9) on Saturday as part of the National Tournament.
Despite the Championship Game loss, Anne Arundel earned an at-large bid into the National Tourney, one of two spots awarded. The Pioneers (13-6) claimed the No. 4 seed and will host No. 5 SUNY-Delhi (14-3) on Saturday.
