Harford's Finishes With Best Conference Record in MD JUCO History

BEL AIR, Md. - The No. 20 Harford baseball team finished the MD JUCO season with the best record in the history of the conference on Monday, defeating CCBC Essex, 8-2 in a rain-shortened contest. The Fighting Owls finish the 2016 conference season with a remarkable 25-1 mark, winning 25-straight after dropping the opener at CCBC Essex.

Harford grabbed a 3-1 lead in the third inning on a bases-loaded, excuse-me single over the first baseman's head by Max Joseph that scored two. The Fighting Owls scored three in the third and four in the fifth in the win.

Josh Silvestri improved to 8-0 with the complete game effort. He struck out five batters to move into third place on the school's all-time chart with 116 while winning his 14th career game, a total that ranks second all-time.

A game after setting the single-season home run record, Daulton Weeks did not get a pitch to hit in three at bats, walking all three times and scoring twice. Ben Bomberger also scored twice while Joseph had two of the Fighting Owls six hits. Andrew Valichka totaled three RBIs, including a two-run laser up the middle in the fifth.
