Scrivner Reaches 1,000 Career Points Mark

Hagerstown, Md. --On Monday, Prince George's men's basketball traveled to Hagerstown Community College to take on the Hawks in a Maryland JUCO matchup in the Owls' regular season finale. While the Owls lost 90-73 in a tightly contended game that included nine lead changes, sophomore Tunde Scrivner was the silver lining, as he amassed 1,000 career point during the contest.

Entering the matchup needing only 13 points to reach the milestone, Scrivner spent nearly seven minutes sitting at 999 career points, before he drilled a three-pointer with 1:31 remaining to put him over the mark and move his total career points to 1,002.

Scrivner ended the game with 17 points, bringing his total career points to 1,004 as the Owls turn their attention to defending their Region XX Division III title this weekend.

Prince George's got off to a sluggish start as they fell behind in the first few minutes before catching the Hawks at the 13:26 mark after an Isaiah Miles made three-point shot put the Owls up 14-13. The Owls later went on an 8-0 run to take a 24-18 lead with 7 minutes remaining in the half.

Hagerstown responded with a run of its own to send the Owls into halftime trailing 38-34. Miles led all scorers at the break with 17 points, including 3-5 from beyond the arc.

Prince George's continued to pressure Hagerstown after the break, as they came to within three points of the Hawks early on in the second half.

Despite the Owls persistence, the Hawks responded each time with a basket of their own, connecting on over 70% (19-27) of their shots in the final twenty minutes.

Trailing by double digits with the game coming to a close, Scrivner saw his chance to join the 1,000 point club as he dialed up a three to push his career total over the threshold, before the Owls ultimately fell to the Hawks, 90-73.

Miles finished as the Owls leading scorer with 24 points, while grabbing seven boards. Scrivner finished with 17 points, six assists, and three rebounds in the loss.

Prince George's will now look ahead to this weekend where they will travel to Youngwood, Pennsylvania for the NJCAA Region XX Division III Basketball Tournament, hosted by Westmoreland County Community College.

The Owls enter as the No. 1 seed and will play the winner of the number five seeded Westmoreland and number four seeded Pennsylvania Highlands who play on Friday, February 21. The Owls will face the winner the following day at 4 pm.
