BALTIMORE (December 12, 2019) – The Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (Maryland JUCO) today announced that it has selected Jacob Falco (men's basketball) and Mya Moye (women's basketball) as its Athletes of the Month for November 2019.
Falko (Cecil College | Tri-State Christian Academy)
In 10 games played in November, the sophomore averaged 26.3 points per game, while shooting 58.9% (83-141) from the field and 54.3% (19-35) from behind the arc. He currently leads the conference and Region XX Division II and is fifth in NJCAA Division II with 25.6 points per game. His 307 total points ranks him No. 2 in the nation for Division II, while his 52.8% three-point percentage is 10th best in the nation.
Falko was named NJCAA Division II Men's Basketball Player of the Week for November 11-17, after averaging 34.3 points per game (103 total points) in three games that week. He scored a career-high 43 in a 101-89 loss to Harcum College (November 17). The North East, Maryland native also averaged 4.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game in November.
Moye (CCBC Essex | Anacostia H.S.)
In nine games, the sophomore transfer averaged 19.8 points, 5.9 assists, and 1.6 steals per game. She shot 42.3% from the field and made 46.7% of her three-point attempts. She scored in double digits in all nine games, with four 20-or-more-point performances, including a career-high 33 against Howard (November 26), where she added nine assists, five rebounds and two steals.
Other big-game performances include 21 points and six assists versus Cape Fear (November 19), 16 points, seven assists and five rebounds against Wake Tech (November 20) and 21 points, four assists, five rebounds and three steals against Union County (November 16). Moye's 19.7 points per game currently rank sixth in the conference and 24th in NJCAA Division II and her 5.9 assists per game are fourth best in Maryland Juco and 11th in the nation.
