Maryland Juco Names September Athletes of the Month

BALTIMORE (October 18, 2018) – The Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (Maryland JUCO) today announced that it has selected Sahor "Pa" Keluntang (men's soccer), Kasie Lambert (women's soccer), Anna Chepurnove (volleyball), Hassan Eissa (men's cross country), and Emily Jacobsen (women's cross country) as its Athletes of the Month for September 2018.

Keluntang (Montgomery College | Rev JC Faye Memorial School H.S.)
Helped lead the Raptors to an 8-1 record in September. He scored six goals and added three assists. In addition, playing center back he led the backline to the best goals against average in the Maryland Juco conference. He is the second leading scorer on his team, despite being a center back.

Lambert (Harford Community College | Sparrows Point H.S.)
Scored five goals and added four assists in the month of September. She has earned a goal or assist in all of Harford's 12 games this season. Picked up a hat trick against Hagerstown C.C. (Sept. 29). First in the conference in assists, third in points and seventh in goals.

Chepurnova (Montgomery Community College | Northwest H.S.)
Impressive month of September averaging 3.27 digs per set for a total of 180, along with 207 kills and 18 service aces. She leads the conference in kills with 278 and is second in kills per set with 3.81. Her contributions are a big reason why the Raptors were 19-0 in September and are now 25-0 overall (10-0 Maryland Juco).

Eissa (Harford Community College | Homeschool)
A three-time Player of the Month award winner (September and October 2017), he placed second at the Goldey-Beacom College Fall Classic with a time of 28:38.5, going head-to-head with runners from four-year colleges and universities.

Jacobsen (Anne Arundel Community College | South River H.S.)
Back competing and healthy, Jacobsen has been "an inspiration to the other members of our team," Riverhawks' cross country coach Jim Griffiths said. Overcoming Cavernous Angioma, a blood vessel malformation in the brain, she ran a 26:11 6K at Salisbury (September 1) and finished third at the Westmoreland Invitational on September 8. She was AACC's top finisher in both races.
