BALTIMORE (January 15, 2019) – The Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (Maryland JUCO) today announced that it has selected Dahnye Redd (women's basketball) and Alex Morales (men's basketball) as its Athletes of the Month for December 2018.
Redd (Harford Community College | Penn Wood H.S.)
A back-to-back winner of the award, Redd continued to excel in December, posting a double-double in all eight games for the month – extending her streak to 15 games – as the Fighting Owls went 7-1. She averaged 22.1 points per game (61.4% shooting), 13.6 rebounds, 3.3 steals and added 1.6 assists per game. Redd also made nearly 81% of her free throws. She scored 20 or more points in five of eight games, including three with more than 30 points.
Morales (Prince George's Community College | Manchester H.S.)
Morales averaged 19 points, 10.7 rebounds and 7.7 assists per game in December, including two triple-doubles and three double-doubles, as the Owls finished the month 6-0. The Paterson, N.J. native began the month with a 20-point, career-high 20-rebound, eight-assist performance in a win against Northern Virginia Community College, and had 16 points, 13 rebounds and six assists against NJCAA Division II nationally-ranked Frederick Community College. He finished out 2018 with back-to-back triple-doubles against CCAC Boyce (19 points, 13 rebounds, 10 assists) and CCAC Allegheny (18 points, 12 rebounds, 11 assists).

The Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (Maryland JUCO) exists to govern and conduct championships for the conference's 16 varsity sports.
