BALTIMORE (November 16, 2018) – The Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (Maryland JUCO) today announced that it has selected Isaiah Price (men's soccer), Nikki Vieira (women's soccer), Emily Maser (volleyball), Garrett Harris (men's cross country), and Hyunsun Reilly (women's cross country) as its Athletes of the Month for October 2018.
Price (CCBC Essex | Bowie H.S.)
Scored two goals, including the game-winner in overtime, against Montgomery College (Oct. 27) to help the Knights to their seventh straight NJCAA Region XX Division I title. He also had a goal in Essex's regional quarterfinal game versus Hagerstown Community College (Oct. 24). Price had a tally in nine of 10 games for the month, scoring 15 goals, five game-winners, and had four assists (34 points) in October. He finished the season tied for first in the conference with 24 goals scored.
Vieira (Howard Community College | Colégio Adventista H.S.)
Scored the lone goal in a big game against Region XX Division III rival Anne Arundel Community College (Oct. 2). Tallied hat tricks against Frederick Community College (Oct. 9) and CCBC Catonsville (Oct. 12) in back-to-back games. Vieira earned at least one point in all eight of the Dragons' October matches. She registered an assist in the Dragons regional championship victory against Anne Arundel, earning Region XX Division III All-Tournament Team honors, and another assist in her team's 2-0 win against Oxford Emory in the District title game.
Maser (Cecil College | Octorara H.S.)
Helped her team to a 6-1 record in October. Recorded 128 assists during the month, including a career-high 33 versus CCBC Essex (Oct. 2). Contributing factor to the Seahawks leading NJCAA Division II in service aces per set (3.76), as she tallied 20 of her 58 aces in October. Finished with double-digit assists in all seven October games.
Harris (CCBC Essex | Loch Raven H.S.)
Placed 10th in a field of 113 runners at the Hood Invitational (Oct. 13). He finished second at the NJCAA Region XX Division I/Maryland Juco meet with a time of 29:27.7 (Oct. 27), less than one second behind the winner; his strong performance led the Knights to their first regional and conference titles in a program history that dates back to the 1970s, as they defeated Harford by nine points.
Reilly (Harford Community College | Info & Industrial H.S.)
Finished second at the Goucher Classic (Oct. 6). Finished second regionally and first in the conference at the NJCAA Region XX Division I/Maryland Juco meet, running 21:28.3, leading her team to its second consecutive regional and conference titles.
