Maryland JUCO Names November Athletes of the Month

BALTIMORE (December 11, 2018) – The Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (Maryland JUCO) today announced that it has selected Dayvon Cuffey (men's basketball) and Dahnye Redd (women's basketball) as its Athletes of the Month for November 2018.

Cuffey (Anne Arundel Community College | Glen Burnie H.S.)

Cuffey came to Anne Arundel this season as a transfer from Lycoming College (Williamsport, Pa.) and has made an immediate impact for the Riverhawks. He helped lead his team to a 4-4 start in November, huge strides for a team that won just eight games the past two seasons combined. Cuffey averaged 20.8 points per game, shot 65% from the field and pulled down 10.5 rebounds per game for the month. He scored 20 or more points five times, including 35 points in the Riverhawks' season opener against Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology (November 7). In eight November games, Cuffey registered four double-doubles.

Redd (Harford Community College | Penn Wood H.S.)

After sitting out the 2017-18 season with an injury, the redshirt sophomore has stormed back to the court. The Darby, Pa. native helped lead Harford to a 7-0 start in November, scoring in double digits in all seven of her team's games, collecting a double-double in each as well. For November, Redd averaged 23.9 points per game, shot 55.3% (68-123) from the floor and had 17.3 rebounds per game. She also averaged 2.7 assists and 3.3 steals per game. Redd scored a career-high 40 points in the Fighting Owls season opener against Northern Virginia Community College (November 1).
