BEL AIR, Md. - Harford sophomore shortstop/pitcher Dominic DiSabatino was selected in the 20th round of the 2016 Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft Saturday afternoon by the San Diego Padres. Freshman outfielder Joe Burton was selected in the 24th round by the New York Yankees. The pair of Delaware natives become the seventh and eighth Fighting Owls drafted in school history.

BEL AIR, Md. - The No. 20 Harford baseball team finished the MD JUCO season with the best record in the history of the conference on Monday, defeating CCBC Essex, 8-2 in a rain-shortened contest. The Fighting Owls finish the 2016 conference season with a remarkable 25-1 mark, winning 25-straight after dropping the opener at CCBC Essex.

The Montgomery College Raptors entered World Series play ranked 8th in the country and faced the #6 ranked team Joliet Junior College Wolves in the opening round of the national tournament.

Last Sunday afternoon in the bottom of the ninth the Cougars rallied from a two-run deficit to capture the Region XX Championship and today the Hollywood script added another scene to one great movie! FCC punches their ticket to the NJCAA World Series after beating Lackawanna College today 6-3 on a Chris Mattison walk-off three-run homer. The Cougars are now 49-7 and head to Enid, Oklahoma, as the D2 Northeast Representative. The Cougars last appearance was in 2010 when the squad went 53-7.

Folks, if you missed it, you missed a good old fashioned baseball game. With the sun scorching down and a standing room only crowd, the Cougars defeated the Seahawks 7-6 to capture the Region XX D2 crown. The Cougars last won the region in 2010 and sit at 47-6 overall on the year.
R. Carl Brooks will take the helm of Anne Arundel Community College’s Pioneers’ men’s baseball team this fall after a three-year stint as Cecil College’s assistant coach in charge of pitching.

The CCBC Catonsville and Anne Arundel softball teams as well as the Montgomery baseball team have each punched their ticket to the NJCAA National Championships in their respective divisions while Cecil is right on the doorstep.
