GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Howard Community College cross country program traveled to Greensboro, N.C. last weekend to compete in the Greensboro Invitational.
The field consisted of NCAA Division I/II/III teams, as the Dragons competed in the D-III division where they placed second.
Abbey Starks (Marriotts Ridge) placed 3rd overall with a time of 19:39 in the 5K race.
Starks was followed by Brenda Rosas (Wilde Lake) 32nd / 22:23, Amani Jones (Oakland Mills) 41st / 22:48, Brittany Nixon (Oakland Mills) 77th / 26:41 and Kirsten Murrill ( Century) 86th / 27:20.
The men were led by Corey Young (Springbrook) who came in 23rd with a time of 29:26.
Ryan Clocker (Kent Island) 29th / 29:53, Abraham Samuel (Mt. Hebron) 32nd / 30:01 Garrett Birsa (Glenelg) 33rd / 30:03 and Scott Camp (Springbrook) 48th / 31:29 all ran respectable times.
"This was a very good meet," said Dragons' coach Steve Musselman. "It a great, challenging course with some good competition."
The Dragons will travel to Lehigh University on Oct. 1 to compete at the Paul Short Invitational.
