NEW ORLEANS - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association selects NCAA and NJCAA Outdoor National Athletes of the Week and Howard's Glory Ebinama, Elijah Richardson and Daniel Ushers have earned honors, thus far this season.
Glory Ebinama
The Columbia, Maryland native earned the NJCAA Division III women's award for the week of March 21 after finishing as the top junior college runner in the 200m dash at the Maryland Invitational (College Park, Md.) on March 18 with a time of 26.30. She was also the fastest NJCAA Division III runner in the 400m with a time of 1:02.14 at the same meet.
Elijah Richardson
The freshman also had a strong showing at the Maryland Invitational to claim the USTFCCCA NJCAA Division III men's award for the week of March 21. In the high jump, he took the top spot over NCAA and NJCAA competition alike, with a jump of 1.98m (6-6). He also posted the best NJCAA Division III times in the 110 hurdles (16.71) and 400 hurdles (1:00.24).
Daniel Usher
The sophomore was the top shot put and discus finisher at last weekend's Ursinius Collegiate Invitational, which earned him the USTFCCCA NJCAA Division III men's award for the week of March 28. Usher, a Laurel, Maryland native, recorded a shot put throw of 15.22m (49-11 1/4), more than two and a half feet farther than the runner up. His discus mark was 44.14m (144-10.
