ANNANDALE, Va. -- Anne Arundel Community College women's cross country took home its fifth consecutive NJCAA Region XX Division III Championship plaque this weekend.
The Riverhawks surpassed Howard Community College and Westmoreland Community College during a brutally windy day on a very hilly course at host Northern Virginia Community College.
Along with its Region XX Division III win, Anne Arundel also bested Division I and Maryland JUCO Athletic Conference foe Harford Community College by three points to take home the conference title.
Sophomore Sidney Hinkle (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) was the top finisher for the Riverhawks, placing second overall with a time of 22:20.4. The performance earned her All Region XX First Team and All Maryland JUCO First Team honors.
Romina Montes Rodriguez (Hanover, Md./Old Mill) also earned All Region XX First Team honors with her fifth place finish and time of 23:53.8.
Also in the top 10 for AACC was Shannon Martin (Severna Park, Md.) placing sixth, Crystal Warffuel (Lake Forest, Calif./El Toror) placing eighth and Madelynn Argumedo (Linthicum, Md./North County) placing ninth.
Martin clocked in at 24:19.1, while Warffuel finished in 25:20 and Argumedo was 25:25.6.
Finishing up for the Riverhawks was Caitlyn Shriver (Pasadena, Md./Northeast) at 26:29.4 and Mackenzie Schwartz (Pasadena, Md./Northeast) at 26:56.2.
AACC finished with 30 points, holding off second place Howard by 15.
The Riverhawks season continues, as they will travel to Fingerlakes Community College (Canandaigua, N.Y.) for the NJCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Championship to be held Saturday, Nov. 12.
