Morales, Harris Named Conference Student Athletes of the Month for February

BALTIMORE - The Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (Maryland JUCO) has selected Alex Morales (men's basketball) and Daisa Harris (women's basketball) as its Student Athletes of the Month for February 2017. 

Morales (Prince George's Community College) averaged a double-double for the month with 15.1 points per game and 11 rebounds per game. He helped lead the Owls to its first Maryland JUCO Tournament Championship, averaging 19.7 points and 11.3 rebounds in the three wins against Garrett College (81-71), Harford Community College (70-68) and Baltimore City Community College (63-62), as he earned the conference tournament's most vaulable player award.

The Paterson, N.J. native scored in double figures in seven of 10 contests in February, including 20 or more four times. He finished the season averaging 13.8 points per game and 9.9 rebounds per game (No. 3 in the conference).  

Harris (Harford) averaged 26.3 points per game, 5.1 rebounds per game, 4.6 assists per game and 3.6 steals per game in February to help lead the Fighting Owls to conference regular season and tournament championships. She scored in double figures in all 10 of her team's games of the month, including 20 or more six times, 33 points vs. Allegany College of Maryland (February 3), and a career and school-high 48 points in the conference semifinal vs. Chesapeake (February 18).

The Paint Branch High School graduate finished the season averaging 22.1 points per game (tied No. 2 in the conference), 5.9 assists per game (No. 2 in conference) and 3.7 steals per game (tied No. 3 in conference).
