Maryland JUCO Men’s Basketball Coaches Association Releases Pre-Season Poll

BALTIMORE – The Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (Maryland JUCO) today released its 2016-17 Men's Basketball Coaches Association Pre-Season Poll with Baltimore City Community College (171 points) and Harford Community College (168) separated by only three points for the conference's top spot.

"With five different institutions receiving at least one first place vote, I think it's fair to say that we are in for a very competitive season this year," said Maryland JUCO Men's Basketball Coaches Association President and Baltimore City Community College head men's basketball coach Terry Maczko. "This conference has an outstanding group of coaches and there are always a couple of upsets along the way. I don't think anyone can be counted out."

Frederick Community College (136) is ranked third, while Montgomery College (125), Garrett College (124) and Cecil College (123) are crowded together at fourth, fifth, and sixth, respectively.

Allegany College of Maryland (110), Prince George's Community College (107), CCBC Dundalk (72) and Hagerstown Community College (56) round out the top ten.

Last season's Maryland JUCO Men's Basketball Tournament championship, hosted by Garrett College, saw Montgomery defeat Harford 82-71 to capture the title.

The Maryland JUCO Men's Basketball Coaches Association also announced its "Players to Watch" for the 2016-17 season and a list of 36 student athletes that played in the conference during the 2015-16 season that are now playing at two NCAA Division I, 17 Division II and seven Division III schools, as well as one NAIA.
