BALTIMORE (December 16, 2016) – The Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (Maryland JUCO) today announced that it has selected Marcus Dentley (men's basketball) and Chaunte McDowell (women's basketball) as its Student Athletes of the Month for November 2016.
Dentley (Anne Arundel Community College) averaged 23.7 points per game, 9.89 rebounds per game, and tallied three double-doubles for the month of November. The 6-foot-5-inch Pasadena, Md. native is currently rank No. 1 in Maryland JUCO men's basketball with a 22.3 points per game average.
Dentley's best games of the month came on November 2 against Potomac State College of West Virginia University (41 points, 11 rebounds, and 11-for-12 free throws) and November 16 against CCBC Dundalk (35 points and 13 rebounds).
McDowell (Garrett College) averaged 28.3 points per game with a 65% field goal percentage, and made 83.3% of her free throw attempts. She scored 30 points or more three times and is currently No. 1 in Maryland JUCO women's basketball with a 27 points per game average.
McDowell's highlights for the month include a 35-point performance against Anne Arundel (November 19), 34 points against College of Southern Maryland (November 21), and 33 points against CCBC Dundalk (November 30).
