BALTIMORE (January 17, 2017) – The Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (Maryland JUCO) today announced that it has selected Ke'Andre Gibson (men's basketball) and Hannah Henderson (women's basketball) as its Student Athletes of the Month for December 2016.
Gibson (Community College of Baltimore County Catonsville) averaged 19.7 points per game, 11.8 assists per game, and tallied a double-double in all six games played in December. The Paul Laurence Dunbar High School graduate is currently rank No. 1 in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II with a 9.8 assists per game average.
His best games of the month came on December 3 against Frederick Community College (21 points and 13 assists in 30 minutes) and December 16 against Community College of Beaver County (28 points and 13 assists in 38 minutes).
Henderson (Garrett College) averaged 21 points per game with a 62.9% (51-of-81) field goal shooting percentage and grabbed 13.3 rebounds per game in December. She scored 20 points or more three times in six games and is currently ranked third and second in the conference in points per game (22.6) and rebounds per game (13.7), respectively.
This is the second Maryland JUCO Student-Athlete of the Month award this season for Henderson, a Chattanooga, Tenn. native, having won the honor in October as a middle hitter for the Lakers' volleyball team.
