BALTIMORE – The Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (Maryland JUCO) today announced that it has selected Maycol Nunez (men's soccer), Alexis Porterfield (women's soccer) and Riley Forquer (volleyball) as its Student Athletes of the Month for September 2016.
Nunez (Frederick Community College) scored 15 goals and assisted on three others during the month. He broke the school record for goals in a single game with six on Sept. 27 against Allegany, as his team finished 6-1 in September.
Porterfield (College of Southern Maryland) scored eight goals and had six assists in six games (including Aug. 27 and 28) and helped propel her team to a 5-1 start. She opened the season with a three-goal, one assist performance against Corning Community College and scored at least one point in each game of the month.
Forquer (Howard Community College) registered 289 kills, 409 digs and 354 points in September, as her team began the season 18-5. She had three games with at least 20 kills, 12 digs and 20 points, and six games with at least 20 digs.
