McHenry, Md. -- The Garrett College Lakers have been participating in community service throughout the county.
Garrett College athletic teams volunteered at the annual Deep Creek Lake Art and Wine Festival, held Sept. 7-12.
The event benefits HART for Animals - a 501 (c)(3) non profit dedicated to improving the lives of animals in Western, Md. - and the Garrett Lake Arts Festival, a 501 (c)(3) non profit that "promotes cultural and artistic activities" in Garrett County.
The Lakers also volunteered at the Savage Man Triathlon Races on Sept. 17 and 18, where student athletes could be seen at various intersections throughout the county assisting local and state police with directing bikers through the course.
